As election season continues to unfold, and with the Super Tuesday primaries now upon us, candidates’ positions on the issues have received ample analysis. Not so their leadership traits. In 2016, as in the past, voters must make their decisions not on the basis of position papers, but rather on who has the best toolkit for leading the Free World.
Having interviewed many leading presidential insiders and historians for my upcoming book, I came up with these Ten Commandments for Presidential Leadership. Grading this year’s candidates on these 10 traits—and comparing them with past presidents who exemplified these qualities—can help us gain distance from today’s frenzied political circus.
